Finding our dream home in the sun.

We were looking to purchase a property in the Estepona region and found Steve's site on the internet following which we arranged a visit. Steve has access to an extensive list of properties and during our time in Spain arranged site visits to a number that matched our criteria. Whilst on our first trip we didn't find exactly what we were looking for Steve was able to identify a development which matched our requirements and committed to keep a watching brief. In the months following an ideal beach-side apartment became available on the complex. Steve negotiated the purchase for us and the legal formalities were completed very smoothly.
To make it our perfect holiday home we decided it required a serious makeover, which included having walls removed, underfloor heating fitted, new tiling, electrics and redecoration throughout. I put the work out to tender before awarding the contract to a team of English guys that Steve recommended who have been living and working in Spain for several years. Colin deserves a special mention for project managing the works. He kept in regular contact and everything was completed on time and to budget. We couldn't be happier with the finished article.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Steve to anyone who is serious about finding a home on the Costa. He has a wealth of knowledge an easy manner and if our experience is anything to go by I can guarantee he won't disappoint.

It is easy to provide good service when the job in hand is simple and straight forward. The real test of quality of service is when the underlying job is difficult. We made Steve's job difficult by choosing to buy a problem property with a complicated history! The good news is that the story has a happy ending thanks to Steve.

First off, Steve is a really nice guy and easy to deal with. He answers all of your questions quickly and efficiently. He knows the area inside out, and as a novice to buying in Spain, he got me up to speed very quickly on the areas, the system and the culture. This inside knowledge is invaluable, and if you are new to buying in Spain then you really need a Steve to guide you. No amount of google searches will give you the quality of advice that Steve can give.

Our transaction took about 10 months to complete, in-spite of us deciding to buy pretty much the first house that Steve showed us on the first day we met him. The difficulties related to the title to the house and a bank not releasing security. As I say, not simple, and that is where you really need the help of someone like Steve. We tried various ways of solving the problem, and we also started looking again, and in the end we got pretty much what we started out looking for on the same community, so it was a happy ending. Ten months from making an offer to closing is a long time, even in Spain, and in that time Steve maintained good contact, chased down the vendor and turned up on the closing to bring it over the line. Along the way Steve can help you with things like bank accounts and lawyers, and will even help you with lots of the nitty gritty practical issues involved in setting up a new home.

If you are thinking of buying in and around Marbella, why would you not want Steve to help you!

That said, one day we were contacted by Diane at iFind Marbella who spent a lot of time on the phone understanding our requirements and getting to know us. Steve (Managing Director) then followed up on the discussions and we struck up regular dialogue.

Steve was always at the end of the phone (or whatsapp …..day or night !) to answer all of our questions and concerns. We met Steve early on in our break to Spain, patiently and enthusiastically he took us to view properties that met our criteria. I believe we set some sort of record with iFind Marbella……18 viewings in under 2 days !! Not something I’m sure he wants to repeat !!

Before we started the journey Steve predicted how the entire process would map out and it pains me to say it but he was entirely right about everything. The last house we viewed we bought, and Steve led the negotiations on our behalf.

Through the entire process we experienced all of the emotions that Steve had explained……..excitement, anxiety, disappointment, confusion but ultimately jubilation when we found the one. A complete rollercoaster !

We set off on this journey to find a property in the sun and in the end we found our dream holiday home and a new friend. We cannot thank Steve and the team from iFind Marbella enough and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone who is considering buying a property on the Costa del Sol.

A great buying experience
A real pleasure dealing with a professional Estate Agent.

After making a decision to buy in Spain with another couple, we spoke with Steve and he lined up a number of properties to view. After being picked up at the airport, Steve found the balance between a break for all of us and viewing the right properties. On the first day of viewing, Steve took us to a selection of properties, fitting our criteria for price and requirements on bedrooms. Using this as a benchmark, we decided that we were best with a townhouse, not an apartment as we had first thought, and we discussed the right areas we would wish to be. It helped having someone with excellent local knowledge to guide here.

So, Steve went away and the second day focused on our newly discussed requirements. We had a selection of the right properties. With 4 people to please, all with slightly differing views, we went to see a number, followed by an early finish for us to enjoy some sun and a G and T by the beach! We made a decision on day 3 and the legals were painless and easy to sort on day 4.

We went home happy. However, the searches came back and the property didn't have the right permissions on building. It was flagged during the searches, conducted by a thorough lawyer called Juan. So, we pulled out. This was frustrating for us but must have been for Steve too, as he had spent much time and expense with us that week. No costs for pulling out were levied and even the lawyer didn't charge us for efforts he had expended.

It made us more determined to find somewhere in Spain and Steve was again on hand for our next visit, just 2 months later. Although I didn't attend the next trip, our friends did, found a place with Steve's help and we went ahead. I am sitting on the balcony now typing this!! It was at a good price but needed a little work. Again, Steve sorted the builder and the access to the house so a lot of work was completed before my first visit.

The whole buying experience has been great. Added to this is the fact that Steve is not an agent that disappears after the sale has gone through. I have asked him for assistance on the best internet, where the local gym is, best restaurants etc and he answers on email. Perfect for someone who is finding their feet in the area.

So, the message is, buy through Steve. He is the right kind of estate agent and one that goes above and beyond selling a property. Also, if you even wanted a phone reference, I'd be happy to provide. Just ask Steve, he has my number......
